Lindsay Clancy’s ex-husband, Patrick Clancy, called the prospect of another trial 'extraordinarily painful.'

Patrick Clancy spoke out after the case against his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, who is accused of killing their three young children, ended in a mistrial.
"Patrick Clancy is grateful to the Court and to the jurors for their hard work, their commitment, and their perseverance," his attorney David Meier said in a statement shortly after the decision was announced on Friday, September 4, per CBS News.
The statement continued, "The loss of Patrick's children is something from which he will never recover and from which there will never be closure. The prospect of reliving this tragedy through another trial is extraordinarily painful -- for Patrick, for his family, and for all us."
Lindsay Clancy and Patrick Clancy married in 2016.
As OK! previously reported, jurors failed to come to a unanimous decision over whether the Massachusetts mother was criminally responsible for murdering her children.
Lindsay was charged with first-degree murder after confessing to strangling her three young children with exercise equipment in the basement of her Duxbury, Mass., home in January 2023.
Lindsay Clancy Pleaded Not Guilty
Lindsay Clancy was prescribed a 'cocktail' of 13 different psychiatric medicines in the four mouths before her death.
The mother-of-three pleaded not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility, essentially an insanity defense.
Her defense team argued that she was experiencing a severe postpartum psychiatric episode at the time of the killings. During the proceedings, her legal team introduced extensive medical logs, showing she was prescribed a heavy "cocktail" of up to 13 different psychiatric medications in the four months leading up to the murders, which they believe exacerbated her altered mental state.

Patrick Clancy Testified in Lindsay Clancy's Trial
Patrick Clancy married Dr. Rachel Danis in April.
Patrick, who remarried in April, testified during Lindsay's trial, saying that he noticed her mental state worsened following the birth of their third child. He also mentioned that a week after the killings, Lindsay called him to tell him that she had been hearing a man's voice in her head.
"She didn’t talk about our kids. She talked about what she went through,” he testified, per News Nation. "She said she heard a man’s voice telling her if she didn’t do it now, she would lose her chance, or something like that."
No Immediate Plans for Another Trial
Prosecutors had to prove that Lindsay Clancy understood her decision to murder her children beyond a reasonable doubt.
Prosecutors in Massachusetts faced a unique challenge in the case, as they were required to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that she understood her decision to kill her children, unlike in other states where that burden falls on the defense.
Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz confirmed there are no immediate plans regarding a second trial.
"This was and has always been about getting justice for those beautiful babies," Cruz said, per KSL.
