Lynne Spears On A Mission To Free Britney From Oppressive Conservatorship, 'She Had No Idea It Was This Bad,’ Spills Source
For years, Britney Spears’ mom, Lynne, has stayed quiet as her ex-husband, Jamie, maintained control of their daughter’s controversial conservatorship — but those days are over.
A source tells OK! that after hearing Britney’s emotional June 23 court testimony, Lynne has made it her mission to save the pop star, 39, and fight for her as she continues to publicly stand up for her freedom.
“Lynne felt awful at the way Britney’s been treated by Jamie and certain legal guardians. She had no idea it was this bad and thought, maybe naively, that everything was under control,” explains the source
“But now she realizes the conservatorship wanted her to believe that so she’d take a backseat and stay out of it. Lynne assured Britney that she would not be silent any longer and that she could count on her.”
“Lynne recently had a tearful family meeting with Britney where she promised to help her, no matter what,” says a source.
So far, the 66-year-old has kept her promise

“Lynne’s telling people she’s on Britney’s side and wants the conservatorship to end,” shares the source.
“Lynne thinks Britney is capable of living her life the way she sees fit and that should make her own decisions, both personal and financial.
Jamie’s been controlling their daughter long enough and needs to let go.” In early July, Lynne even petitioned the court to allow Britney to hire her own conservatorship lawyer. (A judge granted that wish on July 14.)
“Lynne just wants her daughter – and the whole family — to be at peace and for this saga to end,” adds the source.
“Lord knows Lynne’s made mistakes, but at the end of the day, she’s still Britney’s mom and loves her very much.”
