Mark Consuelos made it clear that he thinks he and his wife, Kelly Ripa, should spend their money freely.
On the Monday, August 24, episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, Consuelos confessed that he doesn't feel obligated to save their cash for the couple's three children: Michael, Lola and Joaquin.
'Have You Heard of the Ski Trend?'

Mark Consuelos replied 'I like that' when Kelly Ripa described the new trend.
"Have you heard of the ski trend?" Ripa asked her husband and co-host.
The Riverdale actor inquired, "What's that?"
"It's changing how Baby Boomers travel," his wife continued. "The ski trend is not skiing. It's called spending your kids' inheritance," as the audience broke out in laughter.
Consuelos quickly jumped in, "Oh, yeah. I like that."
"It's beginning to reshape how affluent travelers are spending their money on luxury travel," Ripa added. "Forbes says that $84 trillion is expected to transfer from Baby Boomers to younger generations in the United States by 2045."
"Wow," he said in disbelief.
'Make Your Own Pile'

Kelly Ripa agreed with her husband and said they are going to plan their own trip.
The Hope & Faith actress added, "As a result, a growing number of travelers are embracing the spend your kids' inheritance travel trend instead of giving it to their kids. They're like, 'the h--- with this.'"
"Make your own pile," Consuelos declared.
Ripa agreed, "Make your own pile," and said the pair is "going on an incredible vacation" of their own.
"Yeah. I love that," her husband of 30 years responded.
Consuelos went on to ask, "When did that come into play? Like, give your kids your inheritance? Who started that? Some anonymous husband?"
"Some anonymous husband decided to leave the kids money," Ripa joked as the conversation wound down.

Mark Consuelos Has Shared His Thoughts on the Topic Before

Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa had a similar conversation in November 2025.
Consuelos and Ripa discussed their children's inheritance during the Thursday, November 13, episode of Live as well.
The co-hosts were going through a list of "10 big purchases retirees often regret" when they paused on one they related to: giving money to adult children.
Consuelos read through the items on the list, which included boats, resort living and recreational vehicles (RVs) before it shifted to funding your adult children.
'I'm Spending Your Inheritance'

Kelly Ripa said giving money to adult kids is like 'feeding a stray cat.'
"This one I like a lot," Consuelos said, then clarifying that he and Ripa refuse to do it.
"Don’t do it," the mom-of-three emphasized. "It's like feeding a stray cat. Resist the urge, I’m telling you."
"Sometimes now when we get stuff, I'll look at them and say, 'I'm spending your inheritance,'" he joked. "I'm not giving them anything. Make your own pile."
