Megyn Kelly shaded Whoopi Goldberg after the actress admitted fans would be "shocked" by how much she earns from The View.
The journalist addressed Goldberg's comments on the Thursday, August 6, episode of her titular show, noting that when the EGOT winner was discussing her salary, she also tried to come off as "a common person who works for a living."
Megyn Kelly Criticizes Whoopi Goldberg

Megyn Kelly criticized Whoopi Goldberg for commenting on her 'The View' paycheck.
Kelly, 55, noted she "can’t totally" tell if Goldberg, 70, was "suggesting it’s incredibly large or incredibly small. But Yashar Ali, independent journalist, is reporting that he did reporting on Whoopi not long ago and she was getting paid $6 million a year."
"So, if she’s lamenting it’s too strong… [or] it’s too low, she’s a fool. And if she’s bragging that it’s too big, she’s unlikable," Kelly expressed. "I mean, either way, this is not a great comment."

Despite her hefty salary, Whoopi Goldberg said, 'I understand people who are having a hard time' with money.
"She actually goes on to just suggest she understands the plight of working people out there right now because of her pay, because she's just a working girl and she needs to work. This is the point that she was making in this podcast," Kelly continued as she went on to read some of the talk show's host quotes, which came from her recent appearance on the "Baby, This Is Keke Palmer" podcast.

Megyn Kelly doesn't feel the actress can relate to the average working American.
"I work for a living and therefore I understand people who are having a hard time. I appreciate that people are having a hard time. Me too. I work for a living," Goldberg said. "If I had all the money in the world, I would not be here. I know it's hard out there."
Countered the journalist, "I don’t think she does know. I don’t think she knows a thing."

The journalist doesn't think 'The View' co-host deserves a raise.
Kelly noted Goldberg is "doing just fine. But I guess thinks she’s entitled to more."
The podcast host "would beg to differ," claiming the "ratings of that show do not support paying her anymore."
(Despite Kelly's comment, Nielsen figures recently revealed the ABC show scored an average of 2.6 million viewers this past quarter, 3 percent higher than their 2025 viewership.)
'I Love the Check'

'I love the check,' the actress admitted of working on 'The View.'
The Ghost actress' comment came when Keke Palmer, 32, asked her what she "loves" the most about being on The View, which she joined in 2007.
"The check," she admitted. "I love the check."
"I can only imagine what that check is," the former Nickelodeon star replied.
"No, no, you can’t," Goldberg stated. "Trust me. You can’t. You would be shocked. As soon as they showed you that check, you’d be like, ‘What the...?’"
