President Donald Trump later confirmed the death on Truth Social, saying, "The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Kelly compared the attack to the assassination of John F. Kennedy, describing the scene as "the violence with which he keeled back, was hit, the thrust of it. It was very clearly a direct hit, it was obviously, I don't know, some sort of a rifle or shotgun. It had severe velocity."

Expressing heartfelt condolences to Kirk's family, Kelly stated, "His children have lost their father. Erika's lost her love. Kirk, who founded Turning Point USA in 2012 at just 18, played a pivotal role in mobilizing young voters to support Trump's 2024 candidacy. After Beck's departure from the show, Kelly read a statement confirming Kirk's death from Turning Point COO Justin Streiff.

"I am so sorry to be bringing this news," she said while visibly upset. "I'm sorry for what it means for our country, for Charlie, poor, dear Charlie and his family. I'm sorry for what it's gonna mean for the debates that we have yet to have, that he would have won. He would have put everyone to shame, as he had been. And I'm angry, really f------ angry, about how this happened, why this happened."

The shooting drew condemnation across the political spectrum. J.D. Vance honored Kirk on X, stating, "Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord."

Utah Governor Spencer Cox labeled the incident a "political assassination," expressing his sorrow for Kirk's family and lamenting, "Our nation is broken. Our hearts are broken."

Former Vice President Kamala Harris declared her distress over the incident, urging for collective efforts to prevent further violence. "Doug and I send our prayers to Charlie Kirk and his family," she wrote. "Let me be clear: Political violence has no place in America. I condemn this act, and we all must work together to ensure this does not lead to more violence."

California Governor Gavin Newsom echoed similar sentiments, deeming the attack on Kirk as "disgusting, vile, and reprehensible," urging a rejection of political violence "in EVERY form."
