Megyn Kelly blasted Tyler Robison's "idiot" defense lawyer, Richard Novak, for labeling the late Charlie Kirk as "hateful" during a recent hearing.
"What are you doing? Just trying to poison the judge on the victim? Or is that for the cameras and the leftist media out there?" Kelly, 55, challenged him during the Wednesday, September 2, broadcast of "The Megyn Kelly Show."
Megyn Kelly discussed Tyler Robinson's defense strategy during the September 2 broadcast of her show.
Megyn Kelly Called Out Tyler Robinson's 'Idiot' Lawyer

Megyn Kelly had harsh words for Tyler Robinson's defense lawyer.
"Well, you're WRONG," the journalist continued. "You were morally wrong to raise that in the context in which you did, and you were wrong on the facts. You were factually incorrect."
As OK! previously reported, Robinson was charged with aggravated murder and six other charges after being accused of fatally shooting the right-wing activist on a Utah college campus in September 2025.
During the broadcast, the journalist played a clip from Novak's closing statements during a hearing in Utah on Tuesday, September 2.
Tyler Robinson's Lawyer Claimed Charlie Kirk Spoke 'Hatefully'

Richard Novak claimed that Charlie Kirk 'spoke hatefully.'
Robinson's lawyer has received criticism from both inside and outside the courtroom for insinuating that Kirk was behaving "hatefully" before his death.
"It is true that Mr. Kirk spoke hatefully of certain groups of people. He spoke hatefully of people who don't have traditional norm-conforming gender identities," Novak said during his speech. "He spoke hatefully of people who are not strictly heterosexual. He spoke hatefully of people who have sexual relationships out of marriage."

'You Don't Know What You're Talking About'

Tyler Robinson was allegedly captured on surveillance footage before the fatal shooting.
Kelly blasted the UCLA-educated lawyer, claiming he was attempting to "demonize" the victim.
"Are we arguing that Tyler Robinson had a point? Is that truly what you're arguing?" "The Megyn Kelly Show" host continued. "You don’t know what you’re talking about, Mr. Novak. Do your homework."
Charlie Kirk's Family Speaks Out

Charlie Kirk and Erika Kirk tied the knot in 2021.
Robinson pleaded not guilty to all counts and faces a potential death sentence for the fatal shooting. Utah District Judge Tony Graf ruled that there was sufficient evidence to link Robinson to the killing. As the case moves into the pre-trial phase, Kirk's family, including widow Erika Kirk, is calling for the proceeding to move forward quickly.
“Today’s decision, which comes nearly a year since Charlie was taken from us, marks an important step in our family’s pursuit of justice for him,” the Kirk family said in a statement.
The statement continued, "Every step in this process carries the weight of all that Charlie’s murder has taken from his family, especially his children who will grow up without their father. We are grateful to all who have continued to pray for us, support us, and stand with us through a year of unimaginable grief."
