Nicki Minaj’s father, Robert Maraj, has reportedly died after being involved in a hit-and-run accident. The rapper’s father appeared to be just 64 years old.

Though details are scarce on Maraj’s death, a report claimed that Nassau County Police in New York said the 38-year-old artist’s father was walking on the road between Roslyn Road and Raff Avenue on Friday, February 12, around 6 p.m. ET when he was hit by a vehicle heading northbound.

Following the accident, Maraj — a financial executive and part-time gospel singer — was allegedly taken to an area hospital in critical condition and sadly passed over the weekend. The Homicide Squad is said to be investigating the case and asking for the public’s help in identifying those involved.

What appears to be a fan account for Minaj tweeted on February 14 in Portuguese that an aunt of the “Starships” artist confirmed the news on Facebook.
