Nicole Williams English Says She Was 'So Excited' to Return to Reality TV on 'The Girls': 'I'm Very Raw, Open and Organic'

Nicole Williams English is no stranger to reality TV — she previously appeared on the E! series WAGS from 2015 to 2017 — which is why having the cameras in her face didn't faze her when she was filming Hulu's new series The Girls: A Khloé Kardashian Project.

"It’s definitely like getting on a bike in a way. I’ve been off, so I’m a little rusty, but for the most part, I’m very raw, open and organic. I think a lot of viewers will be able to relate to that. As I said, there’s been a lot of growth since the last time I was on TV, so I’m more excited to show this new side of me after 10 years. I’m just excited to show my new era," the star, 42, exclusively tells OK! while promoting the series, which premiered on Friday, August 21.

The show is an unscripted reality series that follows Khloé Kardashian’s core group of longtime girlfriends — Olivia Pierson, Natalie Halcro, Khadijah Haqq-McCray, Malika Haqq and Yris Palmer — as they navigate personal and professional lives. Since Williams English is close with Halcro and Pierson, she wasn't too worried about their friendship taking a hit.

"I think that when you put a group of girls together, things are going to happen. There are going to be boundaries crossed, and there are going to be little fights — nothing that we can’t get through as friends. Going into this, me, Nat and Liv have a lot of history. Malika and Khadijah obviously are twins, and Iris has never been on reality TV before, so that was all new to her. Going through this together, we got to know a lot of the girls who we’ve known forever but haven’t necessarily been close enough to. So just learning about each other’s personalities and how to handle certain situations when there’s conflict has been a little bit of a bumpy road, but I think that we handle ourselves very well, and we’re very vulnerable," she states.

She adds, "I think the viewers can pick at least one of us that they can relate to. It’s just an inside look at a real friendship and what happens when you put six girls together all the time, going on trips and being together 24/7, and what that’s like."

As the season unfolds, the model is excited for people to see them let loose but also touch upon problems they are all dealing with.

"Each one of us will be able to give a little bit of something different and unique. I mean, we’re going through a lot on the show. There’s divorce, there’s makeups, breakups, dates, single people, people who are married, people who are engaged and going to be married. All of our kids are friends. There’s a lot of juggling with our businesses and the professional side of our lives and how we manage juggling that with being moms as well. We are definitely a strong group of girls who are very business-oriented. We all have something going on in our careers or businesses, and we’re just supporting each other the best way we can and growing together," she shares.

After WAGS ended, the brunette beauty, who welcomed her daughter, India Moon, with her husband, Larry English, in January 2023, was hanging out with Olivia and Natalie when the fires forced both of them to evacuate.

"We noticed WAGS was replaying on Hulu. We turned it on, and we’re like, 'Oh my God, we’re right there. This is crazy.' We’ve always kept a note in the back of our minds that our fans from WAGS are always commenting every time we post a picture together, like, 'Please come back on our TVs. Please, please, please.' We’re always commenting back like, 'One day soon. Don’t worry, we’re coming.' We always knew we were going to come back to reality TV. We just didn’t know how. So we were brainstorming, like, 'Okay, how do we really want to do this?' Because we’re going to have to take action here. We’ve got to do this. We’re all having kids and getting married. We’re not getting any younger," she recalls. "I was actually away on a trip, and Natalie and Olivia were like, 'Oh, we’re at Khloé’s house. It’s Tatum’s birthday.' I was missing it, of course, and I was like, 'Oh, I’m so upset I can’t be there.' They were like, 'Yeah, we were all talking, and we said we want to figure something out to be back on TV, and what better way to do it? Maybe we just do it as friends.'"

"Khloé was like, 'H--- yeah!' She thought it was the best idea ever. Khloé was like, 'Hold on. Let me make a couple calls.' Of course, anything Khloé touches turns to gold. Within a week, we had a call with Hulu, and it just happened so fast. They were like, 'Okay, we’re going to start the pilot next month,'" she adds.

From there, they were off to the races.

Fortunately, Larry was all in on Nicole going back on TV.

"I feel like with WAGS, I put it all out there. That was probably where I grew my thick skin. When I was filming WAGS Season 1, Larry and I were just dating, which seems kind of crazy because we’ve been together 14 years now," she says. "I learned a lot with WAGS. You don’t necessarily want to read some of the comments because people are not nice, but I think after all those years of being on TV and then having 10 years to grow and get more confident in myself and in my relationship, and being a mom now, that doesn’t bother me anymore. I’ve toughened up, and I have nothing to hide. I don’t think that people can really talk negatively about somebody’s life that they don’t truly know. I am opening up a lot to the whole world, and hopefully people can relate to me and not have anything negative to say, but I feel like you’re always going to get that. You just have to expect that with reality TV."

"My husband and I have been off reality TV for quite some time now, and I thought, what better way to come back than to have a show with your actual girlfriends? We talked about it with Khloé and the other girls, and we all agreed that this would be such a great opportunity to get back on TV, especially me, Nat and Liv. We have a long history together. We’re really best friends and family. We’ve always thought, 'We definitely want to come back to TV. It just has to be the right thing.' So when this right thing came around, we were like, 'Yeah, this feels right.' I feel like this was the perfect time. So, I feel like we’ve had a lot of growth since then. I have a daughter who’s three and a half now. I feel like I have a lot more to share, and I’m excited about it," she continues. "Larry was very excited for me. He definitely knew that I wanted to be back on TV, and he was just so pumped for me. He’s really my biggest supporter, my number one fan. I think that he wasn’t necessarily so excited about being on a show called The Girls, but he’s a trooper."

Additionally, Nicole had the support of the Good American co-founder, who would pop in and out of filming.

"It’s been incredible. I mean, she’s our executive producer and our really, really close friend and family. We’re so tight. Just knowing that she’s a part of it as our friend in the show — she comes in and out, pops in and out. She’s a busy girl, but she definitely films with us when she can. Knowing that, she just reminded us, like, 'I’m always here in the back. If you guys need me and I’m not there filming with you guys and there’s an issue, text me. If you feel uncomfortable, text me. If there are boundaries crossed, text me.' I don’t know if she knew what she was getting herself into," she gushes. "I love seeing her be a boss because she is, and she’s got her producer hat on. I love seeing all her ideas. It’s just her. I feel like she’s one person who doesn’t change. She always remains true to who she is, and she’s such a girls’ girl. I felt like this is just our friend through and through. She never gave me the sense that, like, 'You work for me.' No momager vibes or anything. She’s just Khloé, and that’s what we love about her the most."
