Queen Elizabeth II reportedly had doubts about Meghan Markle long before her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.
According to Susan Page’s upcoming book The Queen and Her Presidents: The Hidden Hand That Shaped History, set for release on April 14, the late monarch grew skeptical of the American actress early on, reportedly viewing her as calculated and highly image-conscious.

Queen Elizabeth reportedly had concerns about Meghan Markle 'from the start,' a book claims.
"Her Majesty had become wary of Meghan as an opportunist — was ‘on to her from the start,’ the aide said — and one with public relations skills that left the palace’s outdated press operation in the dust," Page wrote, per Fox News.
The book takes a deeper look at the Queen’s seven-decade reign, focusing on her relationships with U.S. presidents from Harry Truman to Joe Biden. It also explores her so-called “hidden hand” in diplomacy, offering insight into her personal connections and behind-the-scenes influence during major moments in U.S.-U.K. relations.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry left The Firm in 2020.
Meanwhile, royal expert Hugo Vickers also weighed in with claims from his own book, Queen Elizabeth II: The Remarkable Life of Our Nation's Most Beloved Monarch. He alleged the Queen became more guarded with her grandson after he and Meghan stepped down as senior royals in 2020.

According to the book, “the dynamics between the late Queen and Harry changed significantly,” particularly following his and Meghan’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, where they criticized the royal family for a lack of support.
Adding to the conversation, British journalist Tom Bower also took aim at the couple in his book Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal Family, which was released on March 26.

Tom Bower claimed Meghan Markle wanted to be the next queen.
“This establishment figure reported to the Queen that Megan thinks that once she marries into the royal family, she's going to be God. Which is pretty hilarious, but clearly, she believed it,” Bower said during a March 27 episode of the “Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered” podcast.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are not on good terms with Prince William.
He continued, “Clearly, she thought... I've come to the conclusion, with the help of others on the inside, that she really thought she, rather than Kate [Middleton], should be the next queen after Charles. She couldn't understand why she was better looking, and in her view, more intelligent, harder working, and everything, should be the queen. And she hated the idea that she and Harry were relegated so far down the order. She got everything she wanted and then knew what she wanted and couldn't get, and that was a lot. That's why, of course, she never intended to stay."
The book also included claims involving Queen Camilla, alleging she once told a friend that “Meghan’s brainwashed Harry.”
