According to REELZ, "In the final years of the Cold War, Hanssen worked his way into the FBI as a spy for the Soviets, compromising sources, plans and national secrets. While the FBI and CIA searched for the mole in their midst, his fellow agents, friends and family had no clue that he led a double life."

For his crimes, Hanssen is currently serving 15 consecutive life sentences at a federal supermax prison in Colorado.
