Reese Witherspoon's Daughter Ava Phillippe Opens Up About Her Sexuality: 'Gender Is Whatever'
Reese Witherspoon's daughter, Ava Phillippe, is getting candid about gender and sexuality.
During an Instagram Q & A on Monday, January 10, the Hollywood offspring, 22, was asked by one of her 998k followers whether she is attracted to girls or boys.
"I'm attracted to… people!" Ava answered alongside a picture of her smiling face adorned with blue eyeshadow. "Gender is whatever."
The Legally Blonde star's oldest child has been dating her UC Berkeley classmate, Owen Mahoney — who she often shows off on social media — for two years now.
Ava's revelation comes after her mom, 45 — who shares Ava and son Deacon Reese Phillippe, 18, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, 47 — recently spoke to InStyle about raising her children in the spotlight. "It's an odd situation because I didn't grow up famous. So [Ava is] living an experience that I did not have, and so are my sons," the Big Little Lies star, who also shares son Tennessee James Toth, 9, with husband Jim Toth, explained.

"We are lucky enough to have friends who grew up in Hollywood and can help give them advice on how to navigate," Reese reportedly pointed out, noting: "Ava is so down-to-earth. She wants to do great things in the world."
"She's studying and learning and trying to find herself," Reese added of her mini me. "It's a big thing in life to try different things and figure out what is really your path."
After the college student celebrated her birthday back in September, the proud mama posted a touching Instagram tribute to Ava, writing: "Happy Birthday to my sweet little girl…excuse me… I mean my adult daughter!!!"
"Words can't describe how proud I am of you. You have grown into an extraordinary person who cares so much about the world around her. I am so lucky to have you light up my life. I love you, Ava!!" Reese concluded the sweet note.
