John Witherspoon Was Taken to the Hospital on August 7

The 'Legally Blonde' star took to her Instagram Stories to share an update on her father's condition.
“Earlier today, several outlets reported that my dad was taken to the hospital after a fall. I want to let everyone know that he is fine now," Reese wrote.
"He is being taken care of by wonderful doctors and nurses," the Legally Blonde alum went on. “Thank you to everyone who reached out. It means the world to our family.”

Reese Witherspoon's father, John, fell near his Nashville condo.
A source told Page Six on Friday John was discovered face down on the concrete near the pool of his Nashville apartment. A neighbor saw the Big Little Lies star's father from their balcony and alerted the doorman.
“The doorman and building manager rolled him over and they said, ‘Dr. Witherspoon, are you OK?’” the insider explained. “He blinked his eyes, and that’s when he was rushed to the hospital."
Nashville Metro then confirmed to the outlet a medical incident occurred at the condominium, and an individual was rushed to the hospital. However, the person's identity was not revealed.

John and Betty Witherspoon Married in 1970

Reese Witherspoon's parents were by her side when she won an Oscar in 2006.
John is a retired otolaryngologist, who is a doctor who specializes in problems with the ears, nose and throat.
John married his wife, Betty, in 1970 after meeting in medical school at the University of Tennessee. They welcomed Reese's older brother, John, in 1972, with the Sweet Home Alabama star being born four years later.
However, Betty and the United States Army Reserve veteran separated in 1996. Despite their split, Reese's parents still came together to support her, as they were in the audience during the 2006 Academy Awards when she won the Best Actress golden statuette for her role as June Carter Cash in Walk the Line.

Reese Witherspoon's mother, Betty, married John in 1970.
When she received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2010, John and Betty also stood by her side.
Reese praised her parents for instilling a strong work ethic in her, telling Vanity Fair in 2002: "You wonder where all my drive comes from? My dad scored a perfect score on his S.A.T.’s and a perfect score on his MCATS, and graduated at the top of his class from Yale."
“My mom has five or six degrees. My brother and I both went to college, but neither one of us graduated. My parents used to call me Little Type A. I was always very busy and driven. Part of that is great, and part of that can tear you up," The Morning Show actress continued at the time.
