Director Joel Souza Spotted In Sling After Being Injured In Fatal Shooting On Set Of Alec Baldwin’s 'Rust'
Joel Souza — the director who was injured on set of the Alec Baldwin movie Rust — was spotted at his home following the fatal accident.
In photos obtained by the New York Post, on Thursday, October 28 —the 48-year-old appeared to be recovering from his injuries as he was spotted outside of his Palo Alto residence with his arm tucked in a sling.
According to the outlet — the filmmaker was released from Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in New Mexico a day after the accident and returned home to California.
Souza later released a statement mourning the loss of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins as he said — “I am gutted by the loss of my friend and colleague, Halyna … My thoughts are with her family at this most difficult time.”
As OK! previously reported — on Thursday, October 22 — the 30 Rock actor accidentally discharged a loaded firearm while rehearsing a scene on the Santa Fe movie set. The gunfire injured the director and tragically took Hutchins' life.
On Wednesday, October 27 — the Sante Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies — confirmed that the film's armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the man who allegedly handed the gun to Baldwin — assistant director David Halls — as well as the actor himself would all be active parts of the shooting investigation.

"It’s too early right now in the investigation to comment on charges," Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza stated. When asked about Baldwin specifically — the DA added, "No one has been ruled out."
Following the horrifying ordeal — the Boss Baby star released a statement via Instagram that said — “There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother, and deeply admired colleague of ours."
"I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family," Baldwin added.
