Ryan Reynolds is opening up just in time before Mental Health Awareness Month ends.

On May 26, the 44-year old actor took to Instagram to share his thoughts on his own struggles with mental health before the end of May, Mental Health Awareness Month.

"One of the reasons I’m posting this so late is I overschedule myself and important things slip." the Deadpool star wrote. "And one of the reasons I overschedule myself is my lifelong pal, anxiety."

'I know I’m not alone and more importantly, to all those like me who overschedule, overthink, overwork, over-worry, and over-everything, please know you are not alone." Reynolds wrote in his 'gram.

He ended the post by saying that 'We don’t talk enough about mental health and don’t do enough to destigmatize talking about it. But as with this post, better late than never, I hope... '

This isn’t the first time Reynolds has been outspoken about his own struggle with mental health issues. The actor has previously opened up about the experience of discovering his anxiety diagnosis.

In an interview with GQ in 2016, Reynolds expressed how he was struggling with mental health while filming Deadpool.

"I felt like I was on some schooner in the middle of a white squall the whole time," he said. "It just never stopped. When it finally ended, I had a little bit of a nervous breakdown. I literally had the shakes," the actor described.

"I went to go see a doctor because I felt like I was suffering from a neurological problem or something," Reynolds continued. "And every doctor I had said, 'You have anxiety.'"

The actor also addressed his struggle with anxiety in a New York Times profile from 2018. "I have anxiety, I’ve always had anxiety," Reynolds said in the profile. "Both in the lighthearted 'I'm anxious about this' kind of thing, and I’ve been to the depths of the darker end of the spectrum, which is not fun."

He also added, "When the curtain opens, I turn on this knucklehead, and he kind of takes over and goes away again once I walk off set," he said referring to his anxiety.

In talking about how he manages his mental health struggles, Reynolds mentioned his wife and mega star, Blake Lively, with whom he shared three daughters, adding that "She gets me a lot."

He also shared that he uses the meditation app, Headspace, to help easy his anxiety.
