'Scorpion' Actor Elyes Gabel Arrested For Allegedly Assaulting, Choking His Girlfriend
Scorpion actor Elyes Gabel was reportedly arrested for an alleged assault in New York last week.
The 38-year-old was arrested at The Bowery Hotel on May 14 at around 1 p.m., according to court records obtained by PEOPLE. He was charged with five misdemeanors and one violation.
The charges include assault with intent to cause physical injury, attempted assault with intent to cause physical injury, aggravated harassment, recklessly causing physical injury to another person, criminal obstruction of breathing and harassment in the second degree.
Gabel's girlfriend, who has not been named, accused the World War Z star of "recklessly" injuring and choking her. She told police that Gabel allegedly used his hands to "apply pressure" to her neck, "forcefully squeezing it," which caused "redness and substantial pain," according to the misdemeanor complaint obtained by E! News.
The woman claimed that he spit in her face and said he was going to "punch [her] f**king face in." The woman is also accusing Gabel of shoving her, which caused her to fall backward onto the couch, and said he allegedly took her cell phone from her hand and cracked it when he threw it to the ground, according to the officer's report in the legal complaint.
"The defendant, with the intent to harass, annoy, threaten and alarm another person, struck, shoved, kicked and otherwise subjected another person to physical contact thereby causing physical injury to such person and to a family and household member of such person," the complaint read.

Gabel's team is denying the allegations. "Elyes vehemently denies these allegations. While the claims are sensationalistic, they are not accurate. Elyes would never conduct himself in the manner alleged. Nevertheless he will not disparage the complainant and looks forward to the facts emerging through the legal process," his lawyer Stacey Richman told PEOPLE.
According to TMZ, the couple is said to have gotten into an argument last week when he returned to their room at approximately 3 a.m. after a late night.
The judge reportedly ordered a temporary order of protection. Gabel appeared in court two days after his arrest for an arraignment hearing and was released without bail. His next court date is scheduled for July 7.
Gabel is also known for his role as Rakharo on the first two seasons of Game of Thrones.
