Big Little Lies actress Shailene Woodley and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers' romance may have just hit the headlines, but an insider tells OK! that the pair have been an item for quite some time.
"Aaron and Shailene have a ton of mutual friends, and he's always admired her from afar. So over the summer, he had someone reach out to Shailene and see if she was interested, and she agreed it would be fun to hang out," says the insider. "They had some Zoom dates, got to know each other on a platonic level at first, and things just progressed from there."
Though the Divergent star, 29, was spotted in Green Bay, Wis., in October, the insider says that much of her relationship with the former Super Bowl champ, 37, has been long-distance.

Earlier this month, Rodgers announced that he had popped the question to an unnamed lady, and sources later confirmed that Woodley was indeed the lucky lady.
"They have such a blast when they're together and it's really evolving into something special," shares the insider. "Besides their physical connection, Shailene's drawn to Aaron's down-to-earth attitude and protective nature and he finds her to be one of the smartest people he's dated in years."

But the best part is that "there's no pressure," said the insider, "just a terrific sense of excitement and optimism about what's to come." Sounds like a touchdown!
