Shailene Woodley Confirms She's Been Engaged To Aaron Rodgers 'For A While' — But Reveals She's 'Never Been To A Football Game'
After some silence on her end, Shailene Woodley confirmed that she’s engaged to football pro Aaron Rodgers.
"Yes, we are engaged," the 29-year-old gushed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, February 22. "But for us, it's not new news, you know, so it's kind of funny. Everyone right now is freaking out over it and we're like, 'Yeah, we've been engaged for a while.'"
The brunette beauty told Fallon that she never thought she would marry someone who "throws balls for a living" like the Green Bay Packers quarterback.
"He’s a wonderful, incredible human being," she said.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, "I still have never been to a football game because we met during this wacky, wacky time and all the stadiums were closed that he was playing in. So, I have yet to go to a football game," she explained, adding that before she met Rodgers she had "never seen one football game before."
"I don't know him as a football guy," Woodley added. "I know him as like the nerd who wants to host Jeopardy!. That's the dude I know. He just happens to be very good at sports."

Earlier this month, during his NFL MVP acceptance speech, Rodgers said, "It’s an honor to win this award for the third time. 2020 was definitely a crazy year, filled with lots of change, growth, some amazing memorable moments. 180 straight days of having my nose hairs scraped. Playing for very little fans or no stands the entire season, I got engaged, and I played some of the best football of my career."
Though he casually slipped in the big news, he did not drop Woodley’s name.
As previously reported by OK!, insiders said that the unnamed woman was the Divergent actress. Rodgers dropped the engagement bombshell just days after their relationship hit headlines.
"Aaron and Shailene have a ton of mutual friends, and he's always admired her from afar. So over the summer, he had someone reach out to Shailene and see if she was interested, and she agreed it would be fun to hang out," an insider told OK!. "They had some Zoom dates, got to know each other on a platonic level at first, and things just progressed from there."
The source explained that the pair have to be patient with spending time together due to lockdown and because they live far apart from each other — but with football season over, they have more time for some much-needed QT.
"They have such a blast when they're together and it's really evolving into something special," said the source.
"Besides their physical connection, Shailene's drawn to Aaron's down-to-earth attitude and protective nature, and he finds her to be one of the smartest people he's dated in years."
According to the insider, the couple wants to spend a lot of the summer together and "take a vacation or two, and keep going with the flow and having fun."
