New data has blown the lid off of the celebrities on Instagram with the highest number of fake followers. From chart-topping hit makers to reality stars — and even people who run nations — not all of their social media stats can be seen as real.
According to a report from Sortlist, over 28% of the world's biggest pop stars, actors and politicians' followers are not actually authentic accounts.
Rap superstar Nicki Minaj ranks as the number one celebrity with the most fake followers. The "Super Bass" musician boasts nearly 160,300,000 loyal followers — but out of this number, reportedly 28% (40 million) of them are not real.
Pop sensations such as Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato and Justin Timberlake all tied for number two in the top ten with about 27% of their millions not being credible followers.
Research showed that singer Ariana Grande clocked in with 26% (70 million, approximately) of her 271,300,000 followers being fake social media accounts.

Adele, who is ready to make her highly anticipated come-back, was reported to have over 9 million inauthentic accounts that make up her nearly 42,512,621 followers.
Along with Grande, other musical acts including Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears, share a 26% share of false accounts within their millions of followers. From her 268,000,000 followers, 25% of actress and singer Selena Gomez's followers appear to be fake.
It's not only musicians with high numbers of fake followers: Even politicians like Hillary Clinton have nearly 1 million fake accounts tracking her moves. The British Royal Family also has about 2 million fake accounts following their account.
No Instagram ranking can be comlete without the social media moguls themselves, the Kardashian-Jenner family, who also reportedly rank as the television stars with the highest amount of fake accounts following.
