'I Was Doing Nothing Wrong': Taika Waititi Addresses Steamy PDA Photos With Rita Ora & Tessa Thompson
Unconventional? Sure. Inappropriate? Nah. Taika Waititi has opened up about being photographed canoodling with rumored girlfriend Rita Ora and Tessa Thompson.
As OK! previously reported, the trio were snapped enjoying some cocktails — and each other— outside of the director’s home in Sydney in May. At one point, Ora and Thompson locked lips with Waititi smack dab in the middle of them. The 45-year-old — who was filming Thor: Love and Thunder with Thompson during the time — was also spotted kissing each of them separately. The images prompted fans to wonder whether the three stars were in a polyamorous relationship.
In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, the New Zealand native opened up about the steamy snaps.
When asked by the outlet if the photos going viral bothered him, Waititi answered, “Not really.”
“I think in the world of the internet, everything goes away pretty quick,” he continued. “And also, ‘is it that big a deal?’ No, not really. I was doing nothing wrong. It’s fine.”

In April, Ora shared a shot of herself with Waititi in a since-deleted series of photos on Instagram that she captioned, “Good times, memories, random things on my phone and the ones I love.”
The two have been linked since May, when the "For You" singer, 30, and Waititi looked cozy while attending the premiere of RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under in Sydney. That same month, they were spotted holding hands during a lunch date.
Meanwhile, Thompson, 37, has made no secret of her sexuality. In a 2018 interview with Porter, the actress opened up about her nonchalant attitude toward dating while discussing speculation that she was involved in a romance with singer Janelle Monáe: “I can take things for granted because of my family – it’s so free and you can be anything that you want to be. I’m attracted to men and also to women. If I bring a woman home, [or] a man, we don’t even have to have the discussion.”
The Creed actress seems to be living a life without limits: On the same day Thompson was snapped smooching Ora and Waititi, she was later spotted locking lips with Australian model Zac Stenmark.
