1. Pain & Gain
Let's start with the most recent. This film about body building just came out last week but it's based on real life events that happened in Miami in 1995. See it because the workout clothing of the 90's was fantastic. Trust us.
2. The Fighter
And in other Mark Wahlberg movie news, his 2010 film, The Fighter, was nominated for and won tons of awards. It was based on the real life story of boxer Dickie Eklund and his life as a poor dude addicted to heroine. Check out that scrunchie on Amy Adams.
3. Rent
The musical existed long beforehand, but the movie version of 'Rent' happened in 2005 and was set between 1989 and 1990 when the AIDS epidemic was a thing. Nice plaid button-down, bro.
4. Love & Other Drugs
The main thing you probably recall about this movie is that in it Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal get naked, but it's hard to forget those 90's jeans and that 10 pound cell phone. Yup, this was a 90's story at its finest.
5. One Day

This was another Anne Hathaway movie set in the 1990's, but in Anne's defense, this one occured in England and the story was told over a series of years within the decade, so yeah. It's totally different.
6. A Walk to Remember
The book came out in 1999 but the movie version starring Mandy Moore and Shane West premiered in 2001 and was set in 1998. We cried so much from watching this film that we almost forgot to notice the denim overalls. Almost.
7. Notorious
This was a movie based on rapper Biggie's life and spans from his childhood in the 80's to his death in 1997. The film has great 90's music too.
8. A Lot Like Love
And while we're on the topic of amazing 90's music, 'A Lot Like Love' is like, the epitome of it. This movie takes place over seven years of Ashton and Amanda's characters' relationship and the soundtrack includes songs from Third Eye Blind and Smash Mouth. Classic.
9. The Wackness
And lastly, The Wackness revolves around a high school pot dealer in 1994, but also includes Mary-Kate Olsen looking like this. Lovin' the dreads.
