Aaron Carter surrendered two of his assault rifles to police on Wednesday September 18, just one day after his brother Nick Carter filed a restraining order against him for allegedly voicing his desire to kill Nick's pregnant wife Lauren Kitt and their unborn baby.
"So today I decided to voluntarily allow the sheriff's department to hold on to two of my rifles. I’m doing this to show my good faith and cooperation with law enforcement. @DOJPH #GunSafety #GunControl,” Aaron, 31, tweeted.
The "Sooner or Later" singer recently revealed on an episode of The Doctors that he suffers from multiple personality disorder, schizophrenia, acute anxiety, and manic depression. He also listed off a number of medications he's taking to control his symptoms, including Xanax, Seroquel, Gabapentin, Hydroxyzine, Trazodone and Omeprazole. He maintained that he's sober from alcohol and illegal drugs.
Nick, 39, revealed that he had no choice but to file for a restraining order after Aaron allegedly told their sister Angel that he had thoughts about harming Nick's family. "After careful consideration, my sister Angel and I regret that we were required to seek a restraining order against our brother Aaron today. In light of Aaron’s increasingly alarming behavior and his recent confessions that he harbors thoughts and intentions of killing my pregnant wife and unborn child, we were left with no choice but to take every measure possible to protect ourselves and our family. We love our brother and truly hope he gets the proper treatment he needs before any harm comes to himself or anyone else," The Backstreet Boys singer tweeted, adding the hashtags #mentalhealth #GunControlNow #GunControl.
"So my brother just got a a restraining order against me. And I was just served lol. Take care @nickcarter we’re done for life. I haven’t seen him in four years. And I don’t intend. Leave me alone. You should send a cease and desist while you’re at it too. I am astounded at the accusations being made against me and I do not wish harm to anyone, especially my family. All I ask is for my family to leave me alone. This is blood. Not love. I will never be around you and I don’t want to be around you. I am the one who said I’m done then you send me this!? Ok. Stop trying to get me 5150’d before I file a harassment suit myself Nick I have the $," Aaron wrote in a series of tweets.
He continued, "LEAVE ME ALONE. FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. I'M BEGGING YOU. PLEASE. I haven’t even seen you guys and Nick you bullied me my whole life. And tortured me as a child. And everyone knows it. IT'S BEEN PUBLIC. And now you’re scared of the truth. Anybody who knows me knows I wouldn’t hurt a fly I’ve never been accused of rape, I’ve never been accused of beating @parishilton how am I the violent one?"
Aaron was arrested for DUI and possession of marijuana in Georgia in July 2017 and checked into rehab in October 2017. He spent two months getting treatment before checking out in January 2018.
