Ariana Grande recently defended her ex fiancé Pete Davidson from trolls on Instagram. Now she is addressing rumors with a different ex – Ricky Alvarez. Fans speculated the two are back together based on a few social media exchanges, but Ariana shut down the idea.
Ricky previously joked about being hurt by the lyrics, “Even wrote songs about Ricky, now I listen and laugh,” which are featured in her song “thank u, next.”
Ariana responded to his Instagram Story at the time and reposted it on her Instagram Story along with the comment, “HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH IM SORRY U GOT THE WORST LINE. It was meant v lovingly.” Since that brief interaction fans have speculated hey are more than just friends, even though they tried to downplay it.
Yesterday, Ariana fueled those rumors when she commented on Ricky’s latest Instagram post. The dancer debuted his blonde buzzcut and wore a mustard colored sweater. Ariana commented, “These colors are sick.” She also liked a picture he captioned, “new york is a sick a** place.” As fans know, Ariana currently lives in New York.

When a fan caught onto the exchange they asked, “WHAT ABOUT YOU AND ARIANA???? WE ALL WANT TO KNOW.” Ariana responded, “We’re friends everyone take a big ol breather.”
Even if she and Ricky are just friends, Ariana said in the music video for “thank u, next” that her other ex-boyfriend Big Sean “could still get it.”
