Now that the public swell of interest has dwindled, Caitlyn Jenner is feeling more stressed out and pressured than ever before, a source told OK! Magazine.
Part of her stress is not only going through her own transition, which she has shown has had its struggles, but keeping a strong face for the rest of the world in her new role as poster girl for LGBTQ issues.
“Caitlyn’s exhausted,” the insider said. “She’s grateful for all the love, but she never wanted to be a poster girl for LGBT issues. Everything she says and does is analyzed and picked over. She’s getting tired of it.”
Not to mention, the pressures of being a woman and the public scrutiny have become too much for Caitlyn, who misses her casual and athletic duds. “Being a woman is much harder than she imagined,” says the source.
She’s also worried her fanfare has bred backlash after she publicly denounced gay marriage on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Sept. 8. “The whole incident made clear that as much as the public loves her, they can turn on her in an instant,” says a source. “And she felt like Ellen threw her under the bus. She says she’s been near tears every day since!”
Factor in the fact that her docuseries, I Am Cait, has flopped—with ratings dipping from 3.9 million viewers to just 1.3 million—the former Olympian has “come undone,” the insider claims.
“Caitlyn was devastated by the ratings drop,” says a source, “and worries the show won’t get renewed. What started out as a great time for her has gone all wrong.”
