The Way They Were: The Complete Timeline Of Cardi B & Offset's Rocky Relationship

On May 16, 2017, the hip-hop stars dropped the music video for their first collaboration track, 'Lick.'

In June 2017, The 'Bodak Yellow' rapper hinted she was in a relationship, coyly calling him "the boy" in an interview with Fader. She also spoke about her collaboration with Offset and his group Migos, saying, "It's been a blessing, me meeting him and meeting his friends. I see how hard they work. And that motivated me to work even harder."

At the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards Pre Show, the New York native dropped a major hint that she was ready to get engaged, telling Charlamagne tha God: "I'm a woman. Every woman, I think, wants to get married and wants to have children. It's never too early to get married now."

On October 21, 2017, Cardi hinted she and Offset were on the outs when she posted (then quickly deleted) a selfie to Instagram captioned: "Single." The following day, she backtracked and confirmed that she and Offset were still together, writing, "I really loveeeee my man … he was gifted to me from Jesus."

Offset proposed to the glamorous rapper onstage at Power 99's Powerhouse concert in Philadelphia with a 20-carat diamond ring that he said cost $500,000.

"Jesus Christ I'm so emotional, Offset I loveee you so much," Cardi later wrote on Instagram. "Thank you for seeing the potential in me since you met me. For giving me advice molding me and loving me. Your such a amazing man to me your family, friends, kids and you are extremely talented. I can't wait to spend FOREVAAAA with you. Let's make a lot shmoney and love together."

Scandal rocked the couple in December 2017 when someone claimed to have hacked Offset's iCloud account and leaked a video that was said to show him cheating on Cardi with an unknown woman. A second video, with another woman, came to light a month later. 

The 'Money' rapper seemly addressed her husband's indiscretions following the incident, telling concertgoers, "I let a n***a know though … you pull that s**t again, you gonna lose your wife."

She also opened up to Cosmopolitan about sticking by her man despite his unfaithful actions. "It's like everybody is coming down my neck like, 'Why are you not leaving him? You have low self-esteem.' I don't have low self-esteem … I know I look good. I know I'm rich, I know I'm talented. I know I could get any man I want—any basketball player, football player," she told the magazine. "But I want to work out my s**t with my man, and I don't got to explain why. I'm not your property. This is my life ... I'm going to take my time, and I'm going to decide on my decision … It's not right, what he f**king did — but people don't know what I did, 'cause I ain't no angel," she continued.

Perhaps trying to make amends after his cheating scandal, Offset had his love for Cardi marked permanently on his body with a neck tattoo of her name in January 2018.

After rumors swirled that the couple was expecting their first baby, Cardi confirmed her pregnancy during her debut performance on "Saturday Night Live” on April 7, 2018.

The hip-hop power couple appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone in June 2018. "We really love each other," Offset told the publication. "She's real. I wanted real. I also wanted successful."

At the 2018 BET Awards, Offset casually referred to Cardi as his "wife." While some brushed it off as a sweet term of endearment, TMZ eventually confirmed that they had indeed wed back on September 20, 2017 — a month before they got engaged. They got married in their bedroom in Atlanta, Georgia, and their only witness was Cardi’s cousin.

"One morning in September we woke up and decided to get married," admitting she’d been married for nine months in a tweet in June. Fans were left scratching their heads why Offset would publicly propose if the two were already married? Cardi explained that she always wanted to experience "that special moment … when he got down on one knee."

On July 10, 2018, the couple welcomed their baby girl named Kulture Kiari Cephus. Offset also has three kids — sons Jordan and Kody and daughter Kalea — from previous relationships.

The fashionable couple hit the red carpet together at the 2018 American Music Awards. Cardi stunned in a floral Dolce & Gabbana gown and matching headpiece.

On December 4, 2018, Cardi announced in an Instagram video that she and her husband had broken up. "We've got a lot of love for each other, but things just haven't been working out between us for a long time. And it's nobody's fault," she said. "It's just, like, I guess we grew out of love. But we're not together anymore."

By February 2019, the couple seemed to be back together, hitting the Grammys red carpet together.

In the fall of 2019,  Cardi showed off some new ink. The rapper had tattooed her husband's name on the back of her thighs.

For the rapper's 27th birthday, Offset gifted her with a massive "Titantic" ring.

When her husband turned 28 years old, Cardi B returned the generous gesture by gifting him $500,000 in cash. "So, you know everyone's saying you got every car, you got every jewelry, sic you got everything. You got every shoe. What else can I give someone that got everything?" Cardi B said in an Instagram video. Offset then looked in the fridge, which was filled with stacks of cash.

"Maybach .....a very Chanel Christmas," Cardi captioned a picture of themselves while celebrating the holidays in December 2019.

In January, the couple attended a pre-party for the the 2020 Grammy Awards. They were nominated for Best Rap Performance for their collaboration 'Clout,' but walked away empty handed.

In May, the adorable family celebrated Mother's Day together. Offset took to Instagram and wrote: "Happy Mother's Day since I met you it's been love thank you for my beautiful daughter she smart with attitude like you and talented like us both my kids and you help me become a better guy all around."

In the couple's last Instagram appearance together, the rappers sent pulses racing with a sexy beach PDA pic.

After three years of marriage Cardi filed for divorce from her husband. The divorce petition was filed on Tuesday, September 15, with the Fulton County Superior Court in Atlanta. The pair’s divorce court hearing is now set for Wednesday, November 4.
