Lauren and Josiah Duggar just welcomed their first child a year after the new mommy suffered a miscarriage. The Counting On couple had a baby girl on November 8.
“After a long and difficult labor, our girl arrived,” the couple told Us Weekly. “When we finally got to see and hold our precious Bella Milagro all the pain instantly went away. We can’t believe she is ours — she is so perfect! She definitely has lived up to her name which means, ‘beautiful miracle.’ Today we are basking in God’s goodness!”
Lauren, 20, admitted her pregnancy wasn’t easy emotionally or physically. “Life is such a gift and something I cherish more now, with all that we have gone through this past year,” she wrote on Instagram in August. “This pregnancy hasn’t been easy. I treasure every moment and I am reminded daily that life is truly a miracle from God.”
The Counting On couple announced in May that they were expecting after she suffered a miscarriage in October 2018. The couple paid tribute to their unborn baby on Instagram and wrote, “As we rejoice of the life of our second sweet baby, we also remember our other sweet baby, Asa, in heaven. God is so incredibly good!”

“We are so grateful that God has blessed us with a sweet baby girl!” they later announced on June 25. “If she only knew how loved she is already and how many people are already praying for her! She truly is a gift… a miracle from God.”
Lauren opened up about her fear of whether or not she would carry the baby to full term. “There are many times where you can just be fearful and think, ‘Oh, I’m going to lose this one too,’” she told Us Weekly on October 29. “But this child belongs to the Lord. He’s the one that has given this life.”
That same day, she talked about her struggle to cope with her miscarriage on Counting On. “Going through a miscarriage is very hard,” she said. “It’s hard to talk about it. It’s not pretty, it’s horrible and some people feel ashamed by it. I was in depression for so long. To me, life had no purpose. It just hurt really bad.”
Lauren and Josiah, 23, got engaged in March 2018 and not long after they got married in June.
