Don Lemon Shares Devastating News About His Sister Dying From Accidental Drowning

Very sad news for CNN anchor Don Lemon, who shared that his older sister L’Tanya “Leisa” Lemon Grimes has died due to an accidental drowning. Click through for all the details.
L’Tanya passed away from an accidental drowning at the age of 58, Page Six reports.
“The Lemon/Grimes family would like to thank everyone for their condolences and prayers at this time. Our family has suffered the tragic loss of L’Tanya ‘Leisa’ Lemon Grimes,” the family said in a statement to PEOPLE. “We are leaning on each other for strength at this time. We appreciate privacy as we grieve the loss of our loved one.”
Lemon also paid tribute to his sister separately on Twitter Thursday, sharing a beautiful photo of her with the caption, "Thanks everyone for your words of sympathy. Please keep my family in your prayers. Leisa was my oldest sister & partner in crime growing up. Always had my back. #RIPbigSis.”

The Times-Picayune reported that L’Tanya accidentally died after falling into a pond in Livingston Parish, Louisiana. Officials do not suspect foul play was involved.
He also shared an uplifting video on Thursday starring a handful of adorable children giving a “breaking news” report about why “black excellence is at an all-time high.” “This lifted my spirits,” he tweeted. “I needed this today.”
