Fans Slam Michelle Duggar For Encouraging Joy-Anna To Have A Home Birth

In a clip from Counting On posted to the Duggar Family Blog, Michelle visits her 19-year-old daughter Joy to help her prepare for a home birth. Fans couldn’t understand why Michelle, who’s only had two of her 19 children at home, encouraged Joy-Anna to go through with a home birth.
“I can't for the life of me understand why Michelle so enthusiastically encourages her daughter's to birth at home when she herself has only done so twice! It's absolutely ridiculous what those daughters have gone through. They are insane thinking that what they are doing is safe,” one fan commented.
“I am beginning to question their judgment with these home deliveries and huge babies. Home may be more comfortable, but I'd trade that in a minute for a hospital and professional medical care,” said another fan.
As Duggar fans know, Joy-Anna ended up having a difficult home birth and was rushed to the hospital after 19 hours of labor to have a C-section. She ultimately gave birth to a son, Gideon Forsyth, on February 23.

“How in the world could Michelle let her ‘baby’ labor for 19 hours in agony like that, since she herself has 17 of her children in a Hospital,” a fan slammed Michelle. “I would never ever allow my daughter to suffer like that. I wouldn't care how much the network was willing to pay to film it, my daughter would have been in the Hospital.”
The Duggar girls have a track record of difficult at-home births. Jill Duggar was rushed to the hospital after over 70 hours of labor with her oldest son Israel. Sister Jessa gave birth to her son Spurgeon at home, but was immediately rushed to the hospital for a blood transfusion.
Jinger Duggar chose to break with her sisters’ tradition, and checked herself into the hospital to deliver her daughter Felicity. She even opted to receive an epidural after 12 hours of labor with no progress.
Are you surprised most the Duggar girls still choose to have home births, even with their sister’s difficult track records? Sound off in the comments below.
