Jersey Shore star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and baby mama Jen Harley are putting their "toxic" relationship to rest for good following his kidnapping arrest. The former couple have called it quits countless times since they started dating in 2017 but after his latest brush with the law, the MTV star has realized they are better off apart.
“They are broken up for good. Ronnie’s priority is his daughter, so he’ll do whatever he has to do to make sure she’s safe. He’s really aware of what the situation is with Jen. He’s now recognizing that the relationship is probably not healthy for him, Ariana or Jen," a source told Us Weekly.
Ronnie, 33, and Jen, 31, first got together in 2017 and welcomed daughter Ariana, 18 months, in April 2018. They broke up most recently in September 2019 but they announced they had reconciled when they were spotted out in Beverly Hills on October 3, just hours before Ronnie was arrested.
Cops were called to an AirBnb where the pair was staying during their trip to Los Angeles after the couple got into a nasty argument in the early morning hours of October 4. Ronnie was tased and handcuffed by officers before being placed in the back of an ambulance and transported to the hospital for an evaluation. He was subsequently booked at the Van Nuys Jail for kidnapping. He has not been formally charged by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Jen has had her own share of legal troubles. After she and Ronnie got into a violent fight on New Year's Eve, Ronnie filed a police report on Jen and she was arrested for domestic battery in Las Vegas on May 16. The charges against her were eventually dropped when Ronnie allegedly refused to cooperate with the prosecution on the case.
Ronnie went to rehab for depression and alcohol abuse in January 2019 and completed a month stay before checking out in February. He explained his decision to seek help on an episode of Jersey Shore.
"I feel like the last year has just stripped me down, layer by layer, like an onion, and I’ve got nothing left at this point. I need to figure out why I’m so unhappy, I need to figure out how to get myself to a better place, I need to figure out how to be a better father, a better person, a better friend. Obviously I love Jen, but I need to remove myself from a toxic situation and work on myself. I can’t rely on other people, I can’t rely on alcohol, I can’t rely on other things to make me happy. I just want to be a better role model for my daughter. I want my daughter to look at me and be proud of me, but I need help," he said at the time.
