Jessica Simpson is on a slow road to recovery. The singer welcomed third child Birdie Mae with husband Eric Johnson at the end of March via C-section, and her healing process has not been a speedy one. On Monday, April 1, she got candid about her postpartum struggles.
Under a picture of older kids Ace Knute and Maxwell Drew, Jessica, 38, penned a lengthy caption. “Recovering from a C-Section is no joke!” she wrote. “I'm feeling thankful for these two older siblings looking over their new baby sister.”
Then she addressed her fellow mothers. “I think we all get so carried away with the excitement of having a new baby that we forget that we are going in for major surgery,” she typed. “Then on top of that, we get home from the hospital, have to recover from the surgery, balance our new life as a parent to three kids and be a wife.”
Fans flooded Jessica’s comments section and praised the former reality star for being so open and honest about her post-pregnancy health journey.

“C-section is definitely no joke!” someone else agreed. “The pain afterwards is crazy. Thanks for always being so real!!!”
Another person shared stories of her own grueling deliveries. “I had 3 C-sections, 2 emergency and you are right!!!!” the user shared. “It is major surgery and if you have hours of labor before it you are just exhausted mentally and physically!”
