Jim Bob Duggar recently called Josh’s molestation incidents “very bad mistakes,” but the 19 Kids And Counting father had a much harsher opinion about incest in 2002.
In 2002, the same year the Josh Duggar scandal first happened, Jim Bob called rape and incest “heinous crimes and as such should be treated as capital crimes.”
His comments from over a decade ago were dug up from Duggar’s campaign website when he was running for the U.S. Senate.

Police documents last week revealed that a teenaged Josh Duggar was accused of molesting five minor females from 2002 to 2003, all of which occurred in the Duggar family home.
However, it seems Jim Bob’s viewpoints changed when his son alerted him to the incidents and instead waited three years to alert authorities.

The Duggar family has released several statements of regret and forgiveness since the incidents were made public, however, Michelle and Jim Bob are reportedly “devastated” over the leak as well as what may become of their TLC show, 19 Kids And Counting.
"They know that they did the best they could, but it doesn't mean they're not filled with regret,” a source told People magazine.
