Kalani Hilliker didn’t compete a solo at nationals on Dance Moms, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t perform one at all! The dancer exclusively revealed to OKMagazine.com which scene from the DM finale was staged for ratings and if she’ll consider joining Abby Lee Miller’s studio for another season.
“I actually did do a solo at nationals,” the reality star revealed of the season finale. “It just wasn’t aired on TV, but Mackenzie [Ziegler] and I actually did do solos.”
As DM fans know, Abby had her students dance against each other to see who would win the honor of performing at nationals. The season finale’s storyline featured Abby trying to decide if the final solo should go to Nia Sioux or Kalani despite Nia beating her teammate in a competition prior. The decision, of course, sparked drama between the mothers when Nia was chosen to compete alongside Maddie Ziegler.
Also on the finale episode, Abby forced her teammates to walk off stage in the middle of the awards ceremony when no one from the Abby Lee Dance Studio placed first. But Kalani insisted the group didn’t walk out because of the results. “The competition was a little crazy and a little messed up,” she explained. “They told me I won first place in duo/trio, but I did not do a duo/trio. We thought it was unprofessional so we decided to walk out. It had nothing to do with us losing.”
Not only does Kalani have another season with her teammates to look forward to, but she’s also going to be a big sister for a second time around! “One thing I’m not looking forward to is changing the diapers,” she said. “I know my mom is going to make me do that at some point!”
Kalani also revealed her baby brother’s name. “Just to have another family member is awesome,” she said. “I can’t wait to watch little baby Jett to grow up!”
