Dance Moms may need to find a new number one to be on top of the pyramid. Maddie Ziegler revealed that she might not return to the Lifetime series for season six a week after show matriarch Abby Lee Miller confessed a similar fate for herself.
We just finished filming season 5,” the fan favorite told MTV Austrailia. “I’m not sure what’s going to happen for season 6. I don’t know if I’m going to do it or not, so it just depends.”
Although the dancer may not return to the show, that doesn’t mean she’s hanging up her dancing shoes. “I love dancing just because I’ve done it my whole life, and it’s definitely what I want to do,” she said.
With her schedule possibly opening up, Maddie wants to do more with acting than just dabble in it. “I’ve been auditing a lot and I definitely want to act,” she said. The reality star will guest star on Pretty Little Liars this summer.
News of Maddie’s possible departure comes after her dance teacher Abby revealed she might not return to the show. “Lifetime is a little in arrears on their payment plan with me personally,” she told ET earlier this month. “And so I think that will have to be taken care of first before we talk about season six.”
“There was an altercation at one of the competitions," she continued. "The producer threw me out! So I left and I didn't come back… There's about one episode that I just wasn't there for. And I thought, 'You know what? If they can do it without me, do it without me.'"
When asked if Maddie and her other dancers will return for the sixth season, Abby responded that she would “highly doubt that.”
