We all know Kanye West isn’t one to hold his tongue when it comes to his issues with the music industry. But it looks like the rapper has set aside his infinite frustrations for music’s biggest night!
West will be returning to the Grammys stage for the first time in six years when he performs at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night.
But Mr. West’s return to the awards show was quite a shock to some after he openly bashed the Grammys several times over the past few years. During the Newark, New Jersey, stop on his Yeezus tour in February 2014, Ye launched into a rant about receiving only two nominations for his latest album, Yeezus, for the 2014 Grammy Awards. "That's like giving the waiter a two dollar tip,” the rapper said during his heated conversation with the crowd.
In another rant during a tour stop in London, England, in February 2013, West again shaded the ceremony. "I hate business people," West said. “People get on the phone with me and tell me: 'What kind of business can you do, though? What type of business are you doing? What's the numbers? How much did you sell? What's the radio spins? How much shampoo can you sell with your face on it and s—t?”
He continued, “Remind me again why we in this s--t. Can you remind me again why we in this s--t? Since when is making music about getting rich? Since when is making art about getting rich?... Remind me again why we in this s--t. Remind me again why the Grammys couldn't suck my d--k."
West hasn’t yet offered any commentary on this year’s show, though. And seeing that his wife, Kim Kardashian, posted an image of his numerous Grammy Awards on Instagram, maybe West is finally ready to end his Grammys beef.
