Lady Gaga got into a Twitter feud with Amanda Knox after she compared fame to "prison" on Friday, October 25. Amanda spent years of her life in an Italian jail after she was accused of murdering her roommate Meredith Kercher while studying abroad in Perugia, Italy.
"Fame is prison," the songstress tweeted to her 80 million followers. "I hear you, but ... prison is prison," Amanda, 32, shot back.
"Oh SNAP. Lady Gaga just got put in her place by Foxy Knoxy," one fan commented, referring to Amanda's nickname in the media. "2019 is weird. Kim Kardashian is meeting with the President, everyone is going vegan, and now Lady Gaga and Amanda Knox are squaring off on Twitter," another person joked. "You ever heard of a metaphor? This is the exact reason why people don’t open up about mental health. End the stigma," a third person noted about Amanda's response.
Amanda was acquitted of Meredith’s murder on October 3, 2011 but was retried in 2013. She was found guilty in 2014 but her conviction ended up being overturned in 2015. She celebrated the eight year anniversary of her release from prison in early October. "Today marks eight years since I walked out of Capanne prison. I can still hear the other girls banging their pots against the bars, screaming, ‘Libertà! Libertà! Libertà!'” she tweeted.

Amanda got engaged to her fiancé Christopher Robinson in November 2018. The couple met when Amanda reviewed Christopher's book for a local magazine and they dated for three years before legally tying the knot for tax and insurance purposes on December 7, 2018. They plan to hold a wedding ceremony on February 29, 2020.
For her part, Lady Gaga is single after her recent split from boyfriend Daniel Horton. The Grammy winner and the sound engineer met while working together on her Las Vegas residency and they were photographed kissing during a brunch date in July 2019. Gaga was previously engaged to talent manager Christian Carino, but they called it quits in February 2019. She was also briefly linked to actor Jeremy Renner.
Gaga narrowly avoided serious injury when she fell off the stage during her Enigma show on October 17. She invited one of her audience members on stage with her, but things took a turn for the worse when the man underestimated where edge was while holding her in his arms and they both fell to the ground.
