Maci Bookout Compares Parenting Jayde With Boyfriend Taylor McKinney To Raising Bentley With ‘Nonexistent’ Ex Ryan Edwards

Maci Bookout welcomed her daughter Jayde Carter with boyfriend Taylor McKinney on May 29. And while the second-time parent knew what to expect, she opened up about how different it has been to raise her second child with a “supportive” partner, as opposed to raising her son Bentley with her ex Ryan Edwards when she was only 16 years old.

“I don’t like to say that Ryan didn’t do anything when Bentley was a baby, because he went to work every single day and he paid the bills,” the Teen Mom OG star told Us Weekly. “But as far as taking care of Bentley, those duties were kind of nonexistent.”

This time around, Maci has her boyfriend of almost three years to help raise their daughter. “Having a supportive partner makes it much more enjoyable,” the 24-year-old said.

Although Taylor has it easy because of how experienced Maci is, she explained that her beau has “taken to fatherhood wonderfully.” She added, “He’s actually changed quite a few poopy diapers. I think he finally realized it wasn’t actually going to kill him.”

Maci also opened up about her struggle of suffering from polycystic ovary syndrome. “Getting pregnant was unbelievable to us because we had been told I wasn’t going to be able to,” she explained. “This felt like a miracle because it happened so soon after we had decided I would stop taking birth control. We took 12 pregnancy tests… we legitimately didn’t believe them!”
