Almost seven days after Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth announced the end of their marriage and decade long relationship, the singer dropped a breakup song with lyrics that appear to make some dark revelations about the demise of their union.
Miley, 26, just released her new breakup song, "Slide Away" — but what is the meaning behind the lyrics? Fans are convinced it's all about her split from husband Liam, 29.
"Once upon a time, it was paradise / Once upon a time, I was paralyzed / Think I'm gonna miss these harbor lights / But it's time to let it go / Once upon a time, it was made for us / Woke up one day, it had turned to dust / Baby, we were found, but now we're lost / So it's time to let it go," the lyrics read.
"I want my house in the hills / Don't want the whiskey and pills," the song continues. "So won't you slide away / Back to the ocean, I'll go back to the city lights."
The somber track ends, "Move on, we're not 17 / I'm not who I used to be / You say that everything changed / You're right, we're grown now."
As fans know, Miley and Liam met on set of their film The Last Song in 2009 and dated on and off for almost a decade until they walked down the aisle in December 2018.
Since their breakup broke news on Saturday, August 10, Miley was spotted making out and spending a lot of time with Brody Jenner's ex-wife Kaitlynn Carter. The Isn't It Romantic actor, has been doing his best to stay out on the spotlight. He was last seen in Australia with his older brother Chris Hemsworth.
