It has been a rough past week for Patrick Dempsey, but the drama surrounding his exit from Grey’s Anatomy and reported affair with one of the show’s staffers didn’t keep the actor from attending his son’s soccer game on Saturday in Los Angeles, California.
The doting dad, looking relaxed in a black V-neck T-shirt, worn-in denim jeans and black boots, looked pretty solemn while watching the match with his fellow soccer dads and moms.
However, Dempsey did briefly flash a grin at one point while watching his little one take on the opposing team.
And the proud father showed his son tons of love when the game was over, giving him a hug as they appeared to exit the field.

Grey’s fans were shocked last week when it was revealed that Dempsey’s departure from the hit ABC show may have been the result of his reported affair with a staffer on the show. Speaking with RadarOnline.com, a source said that Dempsey’s exit from the show and divorce from his wife of 15 years, Jillian Fink, was likely tied to the fling. “It was obvious to everyone Patrick was sleeping with her,” the insider said. “It got very messy and emotional on set and became a huge liability.”

A source speaking to In Touch said that the situation got messier when his co-star Ellen Pompeo found out about the affair and told Fink. “Patrick had an inappropriate relationship with a young woman who worked on the set,” the source told the magazine. “Ellen Pompeo found out and was angry because she’s close friends with Jillian, so of course, she told her.” But a RadarOnline.com source knocked those claims, saying that Pompeo played no role in Patrick’s firing or the affair going public.
According to reports, Grey’s creator Shonda Rhimes then learned about the fling and decided to write Dempsey off the show as a result of the situation. A rep for Dempsey has knocked the affair talk, and Rhimes has yet to comment on the situation.
