Real Housewives of Atlanta star Nene Leakes' husband Gregg Leakes announced on Monday, June 3, that he's undergoing his final surgery after beating stage 3 colon cancer. The Atlanta-based businessman revealed on May 13 that he was officially cancer-free after a lengthy battle with the disease. Scroll through for more details!

Gregg, 63, shared a photo of himself in a hospital bed to Instagram as he celebrated the milestone.

"Going into final surgery. Happy day having my port removed... Thank you Jesus for watching over me. Thank you world for your prayers and well wishes... Leggo," he captioned the post.

Nene, 51, confirmed that Gregg's fight for his life was a success in an Instagram post from May 13. "We are overjoyed to say, we saw the doctors for the results of Gregg’s Pet Scan he took last week! Test show, wait for It.....WE ARE CANCER FREE!!! Yes God!," she captioned a pic of Gregg holding a sign.

The couple learned Gregg had cancer on May 5, 2018. After initially refusing chemotherapy, Gregg decided to have the treatment and had undergone six months of infusions on April 4, 2019.

The illness caused a considerable amount of strain in their relationship, and at one point the RHOA star considered filing for divorce.

"The times you’ve been extremely mean I’ve felt like I want to break up, I want a divorce. I’ve felt very alone, and this has been very hard," she told her husband on the March 24 episode of the Bravo show.
