Just one week after launching her second World Baby Show, Shakira and her hubby, Gerard Piqué, have announced the birth of their second son.
In a statement on her website, Shakira and Piqué shared their excitement about their little one’s arrival.
“We are happy to announce the birth of Sasha Piqué Mebarak, son of Shakira Mebarak and Gerard Piqué, born January 29 at 9:54pm, in Barcelona,” the post on her site said.
The couple also explained the origins of their son’s name. “The name Sasha is of Greek and Russian descent and means ‘defender of mankind’ and ‘warrior.’”

To celebrate the coming birth of their son, the couple kicked off their second World Baby Shower on Jan 19. They created the event to fundraise for UNICEF.

"Now that we are soon welcoming our second child we want to help other children around the world and also contribute to a long-lasting solution for getting children living in extreme poverty the supplies they need to survive," Shakira said in a post on her Facebook page.
Shakira and Piqué revealed that they were expecting their second child together in an interview with Cosmopolitan Mexico last August. And they welcomed their first son, Milan, in January 2013.
