Taylor Swift Performs, Wins, and Dances With Her Best Friends at the 2014 American Music Awards
Whereas Selena Gomez surely had the most emotional performance of the 2014 American Music Awards, Taylor Swift wins for best overall. The star, who wowed in a long green dress before and after her epic opening number, surely knows how to put on a good show!
Taylor was the first of dozens of artists to perform at the AMAs, beginning the show with her new single off 1989, “Blank Space.”
The live performance closely resembled the song’s music video, in which Taylor is dating a hot guy but then goes psycho when she finds out he’s cheating. During the performance, she even played with real fire as she set a red rose ablaze!
And Tay nailed the "crazy girlfriend" thing, doing her best crazy eyes impression every time she sang the lyrics, "Got a long list of ex lovers/They tell you I'm insane."

And just add this award to Taylor’s long list of accolades. The 24-year-old took home the AMA’s first annual Dick Clark Award for Excellence. Why was she chosen, you ask? Oh, just because Taylor’s last three albums sold one million copies each, AND because Taylor is the only female artist in history to knock herself off of Billboard’s number one spot on the charts with another one of her own songs.
Taylor accepted the award from Diana Ross, whom she called "beautiful" and whom she said she was "so honored" to accept an award from. Taylor's speech also emphasized the importance of buying music and she praised Dick Clark for bringing music "to the forefront of our minds."
And as per usual with awards shows, when Taylor wasn’t in the press room or on stage, she was spotted in the audience, dancing and having a blast with her friends.

Cameras caught Taylor crying during her friend Selena’s performance, rocking out to Lorde’s rendition of “Yellow Flicker Beat,” and booty-popping with Jessie J when she came over during her performance of “Bang Bang!” Nailed it.
