Loni Love could not be more excited for her fans to read her memoir. While celebrating at Gladys Knight’s 75th Birthday Party, the television host spoke about her upcoming memoir, I Tried To Change So You Don’t Have To. Loni, 48, told OK! exclusively that the inspirational and funny memoir is a revealing account of how she worked hard to break into the entertainment industry, and to land her current gig as host of The Real.
"It's a memoir that tells about me, but it's also inspirational and it's funny and it actually describes how I did not become a crack addict,” the comedian joked.
She continued, “I got it all, I'm revealing a lot of stuff. I'm revealing what I did to get my first deal. People don't understand what it takes. I'm revealing my first award. I’m revealing how I got on The Real. I'm revealing what it was like working with Chelsea. It's a lot of stuff in the entertainment industry that I'm revealing.”
Loni also spoke about how she was nervous to tell fans about how she got onto The Real. “I think people don't realize how hard it took for me to get to that position. And why,” she confessed.
The Mother’s Day actress also told OK! that she wants people to find inspiration in I Tried To Change So You Don’t Have To. “I want people to be inspired because I came from nothing. And I want people to know that you can come with no money, not knowing anybody and you can make your dreams come true. That's the number one thing I want people to take away from the book.”
The TV personality said that the memoir won’t include any information that she would have to call celebrities up about in advance. “I'm not like that type of person. But you have to read and see,” Loni teased.
Loni mentioned the memoir during the October 9 episode of The Real. She became emotional as she spoke about why she chose the title. “I want people to know that you can come from nothing, and you can turn around your life and you can be something,” she said as she choked back tears. I Tried To Change So You Don’t Have To is slated for release in May 2020.
