Orange Is the New Black Star Jackie Cruz's New York Fashion Week Diary: Her First Shows!
Orange Is the New Black is one of the hottest new TV shows in recent memory, which is why OKMagazine.com is so excited to have star Jackie Cruz as our special correspondent from New York Fashion Week! She’s exclusively sharing her diary with OKMagazine.com, so stay tuned for every show, party, and outfit!
For her first show of New York Fashion Week, Jackie Cruz checked out Heather Lawton in the midst of New York's crazy ice storm. "Even though mother nature gave us some snow and ice, it was a winter wonderland at the Heather Lawton presentation. I was amazed by all of the fur and leather, and blend Heather used to make it edgy and chic," says Jackie.
"Every girl should own a piece of fur and leather in their closet, as it gives you that confident element any gal needs. Heather is one of my favorite designers as she has a futuristic vision with the unique cuts on her pieces." Jackie wore all Heather Lawton for her show.

Then it was time for a NYFW refuel! "After an awesome presentation at Heather Lawton, my boyfriend Francisco Escobar (model) and I had lunch at the beautiful High Line Hotel. It was amazing to take in all the designs featured at the show in such an antique building," says Jackie. "But throughout the day, I was excited to see Wildfox's collection." She wore Wildfox and her mom's vintage leather jacket for the show.

The Wildfox Couture show fit Jackie's style just right. "I ended my day with a little sunshine and vintage. The Wildfox runway show was everything I love," she says. "I'm a big vintage gal and seeing their inspired looks of couture mixed with a timeless flair was a big wow factor for me."
"Love the gypsy look and this brand represents a bit of who I am—a believer in confidence," says Jackie. It may be miserable outside, but nothing puts a smile on a girl's face like fashion. "Their pieces are sunny statements that helped clear our cold and bitter weather." Oh, and cupcakes never hurt.
