Shortly after a star gets engaged, fans, pop culture fiends, and jewelry enthusiasts alike join forces and embark on an Internet hunt for any and all visual evidence that displays a peak at the shiny new bling used to pop the life-changing question.
Just think about it! It wasn't enough to know that Kim Kardashian got engaged to Kanye West with the help of a jumbotron and an orchestra playing Lana Del Rey. You HAD to take a look at the Instagram picture of that massive rock sitting on the reality TV star's finger.
The fascination of celebrity wedding and engagement rings is real, and like the clothes they wear out and about (i.e. crop tops and overalls), the bling of their choosing influences and sets trends. So what type of matrimonial bling should you be looking out for? Jewelry designer and expert Eddie Le Vian hints at jewels with color.

“Lady Diana changed the jewelry world by showing that color is good to marry even for royalty. Celebrities like JLo choosing color diamonds have made it the new ‘IT’ jewelry to have,” he says.
Kate Middleton now wears Princess Diana's diamond and sapphire engagement ring, while Jennifer Lopez made pink diamonds a thing when she was engaged to Ben Affleck.
And while Eddie believes that color will set the new nuptial trend, he explains that celebrities usually look out for “differentiation, detail, quality, rarity, and legend" when shopping for that special piece of jewelry.
But before a new trend explodes, a market is usually saturated with a certain look. That look in the ring biz is white diamonds set in white gold.
"The engagement ring market is saturated with white diamonds set in white gold. In terms of color the market is saturated with cushion halos," says Eddie.
