It was recently announced that Sherlock will finally return to US televisions on PBS in 2014. Hooray! But man, that does seem to be an awfully long time from now. Which means there is good news and bad news. The bad news: It's so far away! The good news: you have plenty of time to catch up on the first two seasons of this brilliant and beautiful show.

Each season is comprised of 3 episodes, or really mini-movies, that are 90 minutes each. Of course all the episodes are recommended, but if you're on crunch time, here are the ones you need to see for optimal Sherlock viewing.

Episode 1, "A Study in Pink": This episode serves as a great introduction to the series, the characters and the tone of the show. It's witty, intense and maybe even a tad bit scary—all the qualities we've come to know and love Sherlock for. Plus, it really is the beginning of a beautiful friendship between Sherlock and Watson!

Episode 3, "The Great Game": Quite possibly my favorite episode of the entire series, so far. Without giving too much away, the meeting of Sherlock and villain Moriarty is some of the finest acting I've ever seen with my own two eyes. You know that Moriarty is a bad, bad man but he's just so compelling that every time he's back in the picture you're both annoyed (because of the whole villain thing) yet secretly happy because you could watch him all day.

Episode 1 "A Scandal in Belgravia": By far the sexiest episode of the series. I know, "sexy" not a commonly used term for a show about a detective and his friend, but trust me on this one. Benedict fans will be swooning all over the place over his interactions with sneaky dominatrix Irene Adler (Lara Pulver). Also: Benedict wearing nothing but a sheet. You're welcome.

Episode 3 "The Reichenbach Fall": That dang Moriarty is at it again. The cat and mouse chase between him and Sherlock in this episode is priceless, and ends in the cliffhanger of all cliffhangers. Watch as soon as possible and create your own theories about the ending!
