High School Musical star Corbin Bleu grew very accustomed to his mere presence causing teenage girls within a 5-mile radius to shriek when the Disney Channel movie became an international phenomenon, but now the actor is causing movie-goers to scream for an entirely different reason—he's scaring the bejeezus out of them in horror flicks. OK! caught up with Corbin at The Lone Ranger premiere and he brought us up to speed on his latest happenings.

OK!: What have you been up to?
Corbin Bleu: I did In The Heights on Broadway and I did Godspell on Broadway. I’ve been in Stamford, CT working on One Life to Live which has been great. And I have a couple of films coming out this year. There’s a horror film called Nurse 3-D with Paz de la Huerta, it’s a 3-D horror movie, and then there is Monkey’s Paw which is another horror film that’s coming out.
OK!: Do you really like the horror genre?
CB: I love the horror genre! I actually produced a horror film that came out last year that ended up being one of the number ones on Redbox called Scary or Die.

OK!: What’s your favorite horror movie?
CB: You know, it’s funny, when I was younger I never used to like horror and then when the first Saw movie came out a couple of friends dragged me to it. I was kicking and screaming. After that for some reason something clicked and I was, like, obsessed with horror. I’ve been a big fan ever since.

OK!: What's the next Broadway show you'd love to join?
CB: Honestly right now I want to originate something. When I did In The Heights I stepped in and I took over the role of Usnavi. When I did Godspell I took over the role of Jesus from Hunter Parrish, so the next thing I want to do is I want to originate a role. That would be a really great step.

OK!: What’s it like being in the soap world?
CB: It’s great! It’s definitely the hardest thing I’ve ever done. It is grueling but it is such a great exercise in the mental workout you get. We shoot about a movie a day. It’s about 120 pages a day so you have to memorized anywhere between 20 – 70 pages a day. So it’s quite a mental workout but it’s a lot of fun. It’s a good cast.
OK!: What’s most fun about your character?
CB: I think what’s cool about my character is he’s associated with a lot of different circles throughout the show. Obviously with soaps it’s all about story line and it’s all about the characters and my character gets to intersect with a lot of story lines. I get a chance to have this bit with the younger crowd which is very sitcom-y but I have a wonderful connection with Erica Slezak, who has been on the show forever. She plays my boss on the show and I have a ridiculous amount of work with her. Just to be able to work side by side with her is quite an inspiration.
