Hugh Hefner’s ‘Promiscuity’ Kept His Heart Healthy Beyond His Years, Doctor Reveals

Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner passed away on September 27, 2017. The billionaire’s official cause of death was cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, E. coli and blood infection—but a doctor is now saying Hefner’s healthy sex life is what kept him alive until age 91!

“He loved women. No, he adored women. The bunnies that he did get involved with, they were treated very well,” says former Playmate Lillian Muller in a teaser for REELZ’s new docuseries, Autopsy: Hugh Hefner.

“As a lover, absolutely he was very romantic, but he would not commit to a one-on-one thing,” agrees Carla Ferrigno, another ex-bunny.

“An active sex life is actually good for the heart. It increases the heart rate, and it reduces the levels of the harmful chemical, homocysteine in the blood,” explains Dr. Michael Hunter, addressing the mogul’s infamous string of girlfriends.

As Ok! readers know, Hefner has three wives and dozens of girlfriends throughout the years.

In 2012, he wed playmate Crystal Harris, whom he remained married to until his death, because he “didn’t want to be alone,” according to a Radar source.

“Homocysteine is a kind of amino acid found in the blood stream. High levels of it can make a person more prone to cell injury, which can lead to an inflammation of the blood vessels. This increases the risk of heart disease. But men who have sex at least twice a week are less likely to have homocysteine in the blood,” continues Hunter.

“So there is a strong possibility that sex kept Hef’s heart healthy beyond his years and I’ve discovered something in Hef’s past that could explain his promiscuity.”

Autopsy Hugh Hefner airs Sunday, August 19 at 9:00 ET/PT on REELZ.
