The Oscar Pistorius murder trial began this week in South Africa, and the notorious case has made for some dramatic headlines every day. Catch up on all the crazy testimony and new developments here.
1. Three neighbors testified that they heard Oscar Pistorius’ girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp screaming for help before they heard his fatal gun shots. Two even suggested they heard the couple fighting for an hour, then Steenkamp screamed for help before the gun fired.
2. Pistorius’ defense lawyer Barry Roux is not having it. He ridiculed the witnesses’ testimony, questioning whether a neighbor could really heard screams through a bathroom in a house a hundred yards away.
3. Pistorius’ friend Keven Lerena testified that a month before Steenkamp’s death, Pistorius accidentally discharged a gun in a restaurant and asked Lerena to take the blame. This story lends credence to the argument that Pistorius is a little trigger-happy.

4. This is the first trial that’s been televised in South Africa’s history. There are not trials by jury in South Africa, and there is a mandatory life sentence for premeditated murder. The case is set to go until March 20, 2014.
