On day before Jan. 1st, the Queen of England publishes her annual New Year Honors List, recognizing some of the best names in entertainment and those who have made great achievements for the United Kingdom. This year, actress Helena Bonham Carter was just one of the many celebrities to receive the honor, new reports reveal.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the 45-year-old Alice in Wonderland star was given a Commander of the Order of the British Empire nod for her work in the British historical film King’s Speech, which even won an Oscar for Best Picture in 2011.
Another actor who made the cut was Blood Diamond star David Harewood, who received a Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for his work.
TV host Lorraine Kelly and reporter Alex Crawford were given Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire honors for their efforts in delivering the news to the public.
Producer Peter Bazalgetter, Paul Smith, and music producer Steve Lillywhite also made the coveted cut for the Queen’s list before 2012.
