We’re sure Lil Wayne‘s Green Bay Packers anthem “Green and Yellow” was blasting from more than a few iPods last night, as the rapper’s favorite team beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25 in Super Bowl XLV. Weezy (or should we say, Cheezy?) celebrated his team’s big win by wearing a Cheesehead at the game and with a simple Tweet last night: “Green and Yellow! Green and f#%kin Yellow!”OK! VIDEO: LIL WAYNE RELEASES GREEN BAY PACKERS RAP IN RESPONSE TO WIZ KHALIFA’S STEELERS JAM
Just last week, Lil Wayne took rapper and Pittsburgh native Wiz Khalifa‘s “Black and Yellow” song and remixed it to celebrate his favorite team in the NFL. He also announced the arrival of that rap on his Twitter page. Meanwhile, Mack Maine Tweeted the cheesy pic of his pal.
As some were confused as to why the New Orleans rapper is such a fan of a team far up in the wintry north, Lil explained on ESPN’s 1st and 10 (via New York magazine):
“My great, late father, he went to his first Super Bowl in 1997 when the Packers were in the Super Bowl in the Super Dome,” he said. “And when he came home that night he just came home with a bunch of Packers everything — Packers towels, Packers cups. You know, I’m from the hood, we used those cups as dishes. We used those cups. I remember drinking out of Packers cups for years.”
