While congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee told Michael Jackson fans on Tuesday during her speech at his memorial that she would get a resolution passed to honor him, it looks like she might have to eat her words: Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi just shot down the proposal, which Lee had shown in a frame from the stage.
Pelosi explained her decision at a news conference on Capitol Hill, saying that even though Michael was "a great performer," a resolution to honor him "will open up two contrary views that are not necessary at this time to be expressed."
